"No matter how much things change, some things stay the same."
Louie Run is no exception. Back in the day, we met in a parking lot somewhere, had the Ceremony from the back of a pickup truck or trailer and rode together to the Party at a friendly watering hole. Any money that was raised was distributed to a local charity or two.
Today, there are at least a dozen packs that gather at a friendly watering hole or bike shop for the ride to the Lake County Fairgrounds for the Ceremony in front of the Grandstands and Party on the mid-way. Monies raised, pays for the considerable expenses for such a large event. What’s left is distributed to a number of local charities and non-profits. Some-times it’s significant, sometimes not.
Many of those that have been with us since the beginning often lament the loss of the early togetherness, since it’s easy to get lost in the sea of leather & chrome that is the Louie Run today. But the elements of the early years are still there. We still come together to "Remember" the lost, renew old acquaintances, forge new friendships, listen to some great music and have a full day of biker fun. What more could we ask for besides plenty of sunshine?
See you on May the 2
nd. Have a safe ride to and from the Lake County Fairgrounds. Don’t forget to bring your friends, it’s another great memory in the making.-The Louie Run Trustees
